Pre-Exhaust Supersets | Day #102 WellFit 365
Pre-Exhaust supersets are a great overload technique for any major muscle group.
Pre exhaust training is where you perform an isolation exercise on the target muscle group followed immediately by a compound lift.
The isolation exercise will fatigue the target muscle without taking strength from the synergist (helping) muscles. This allows the target muscle to be the limiting factor in the compound lift rather than the synergists.
For example performing a dumbbell fly before bench press will fatigue the chest muscle so it burns out before the triceps and front delts fail.
Good examples of this are: leg extension with squats, straight arm pull down with lat pull down or pull ups etc
