(Close Grip) Neutral Grip Pull-Ups | Day #48 WellFit 365
Drew’s Favourite Upper Back Exercises #3 – Another Pull-Up Variation, Known As The Neutral Grip or Close Grip
This is one of my personal favorite exercises for the upper back.
Perform pull up exercise holding on to the parallel pull up bars which should be set usually 6-8 inches apart.
This is a very strong variation of the pull up and allows less advanced lifters to perform the lift. The position of the hands and elbows puts the body in a position of good mechanical advantage.
Can be performed by pulling straight up and bringing elbows in to your sides or in a similar fashion to the previously shown sternum style pull ups where the lifter leans all the way back at the end range of the movement.
The fibers stimulated during the close grip or neutral grip pull up are predominantly fast twitch, so lower reps and higher loads should be lifted to stimulated maximal growth.
