Need to Boost Your Energy Levels?
5 Ways to Increase Your Energy Levels
I’m constantly hearing that people are tired or that they lack energy. When I ask them why do they think that is, the most common response is lack of sleep. Once we do an analysis we find that they have been getting sufficient sleep. So if it’s not sleep, then what?
Here are my top 5 ways to get you pumping like the energizer bunny.
1.Antioxidants.
What is an antioxidant? A compound that protects against cell damage caused by free radicals, this can cause tissue damage and aging.
According to Kym Brown MS, RD Sports Dietitian, keeping your body rich in antioxidants could assist in maintaining higher energy levels.
Blueberries, cranberries and many types of beans are all great sources of antioxidants. A quick search on Google will help you find more foods to help boost your antioxidant intake.
2. Look for ways to reduce stress.
Stress and anxiety are the ultimate energy killers. Find time to take a break and have some stress-free time during your day. Read a book, go for a walk, listen to your favourite music and resolve issues when they come up. Don’t think about them for a week.
3. Your circle of influence.
Have you ever been feeling great, then you see a friend that always complains and talks about how hard life is? Then when they leave you feel crappy too. It can be hard to change these people, so just try to limit your time with them. You can focus on your self though. Always ask your self: What is good about this situation? And don’t judge others. Don’t make things out to be worse than they really are.
It’s hard be stay energetic & positive when you’re around Droopy people
4. Reduce Alcohol and Caffeine
Alcohol depletes blood sugar levels. It lowers the blood sugar level without replacing it with proper nutrients, which reduces energy levels. Lose the alcohol, as it can be devastating to your energy.
Caffeine is just a quick fix to and not the answer too increasing natural energy. It may be hard to quit straight away, so look at substituting your morning coffee with a green tea.
5. Always eat breakfast!
We are always told that if children miss breakfast the have less energy and focus at school. So why do we think it’s ok to miss this meal as adults? This is one of the most common mistakes people are making when trying to lose weight. Breakfast will kick-start your metabolism and assist in increasing your total daily energy expenditure.
Try to implement at least one of these strategies per week and start to get back to the same energy levels you were at as a 5 yrs old.
Hope this helps,
