Losing Weight at the Grocery Store
On Day #17 of WellFit 365, I cover the 2nd of my Healthy lifestyle tips episodes, 3 tips on how to Lose Weight At The Grocery Store.
In this video I’ll be covering how to Strengthen your home environment which will improve your nutritional habits.
I share some healthy lifestyle tips on getting food for our house and going grocery shopping.
These are another set of healthy lifestyle tips to help you ensure that your environment is as strong as you can make it when it comes to losing weight.
3 points on helping you make the grocery store choices that result in you losing weight:
1. Plan ahead!
Know exactly which meals you’re going to eat for the week ahead. Ensure that you’re choosing foods based on your plan, not in reaction to the marketing/product placement, discounts that the grocery store has put in place. Without a plan, you can easily end up with too much food for the week, causing you to eat too much, OR too little food – which leads to rushed takeaway meals at the end of the week.
2. Don’t go to the grocery store on an empty stomach!
When we’re in a hurry & starving, all the bad foods look really good on the shelves don’t they? When you go to the grocery store hungry, the quicker option foods get chosen and these are more often than not going to be detrimental to your quest for weight loss.
3. Stick to the outskirts of the shops.
Ever notice how all the middle aisles are the ones with the packaged foods, preservatives and processed products? Stick to the sections with all the fruits, vegetables, meat/seafood, even frozen vegetables are great options as well.
We want to go to the grocery store in a nice state of mind. Not hungry, not stressed out or rushed.
Its not about what you know, it is about the actions you take, so challenge yourself to put these 3 behaviours into action this week and we’d love to hear about how this works for you over on our Facebook page 🙂
