Progressive Overload | Day #4 WellFit 365
Progressive overload principle explained
In this episode of WellFit 365, I cover an extremely important principle in fitness training, progressive overload.
Progressive overload is one of the Fundamental training principles that EVERYONE should be following, no matter what their age, experience level or fitness goals.
Joined gyms in the past with the same trainer, doing the same exercises, at the same weights, every day?
People are creatures of habit – When we find something that we feel comfortable doing, we tend to stick with that same routine. Unfortunately, this can be very detrimental to your results when it comes to fitness training.
What is progressive overload? Basically, it means challenging your heart and your muscles with increased intensity on a regular basis, in order to stop your body adapting to a certain routine.
The body has an amazing ability to adapt to the stresses you place it under, in order to make things easier for you in the future.
So how can you avoid progressive overload?
You need to be doing things like upping your number of sets, changing up the weights, intensity and changing up your workouts, Increase reps, decrease reps, different workout durations.
