Drop sets are a great way to make an exercise more intense.
Drop sets are one of the ways you can apply the progressive overload principle to your resistance training program. I covered the progressive overload technique in a previous video – (Learn more about progressive overload here.)
How and why to include drop sets in your training program
Perform set to failure with desired weight, then without rest reduce weight by 20% and continue to failure.
Several drop sets can be performed in a row. Great for keeping muscle under tension for longer periods which will stimulate growth.
Drop sets will usually be performed on the final 1 or 2 sets of an exercise and can be performed with any exercise with great effect
