Agonist Supersets | Day #101 WellFit 365
Yesterday we covered Antagonist Supersets – So what are AGONIST Supersets?
Agonist supersets –
This means that you are performing 2 or more exercises for the same muscle group. For example a barbell curl into a dumbell curl.
This are a great way to overload your muscles without having to add more weight to your lifts and can be a safe overload technique if you dont have a spotter for your workouts.
There are several ways to perform these and that is with isolation exercises or compound lifts or a combination of both.
When performing supersets of compound lifts (bench press/incline DB press etc) be aware that the central nervous system will become fatigued significantly which will lead to longer recovery needed between workouts.
Isolation supersets will be less taxing but will create a great amount of tension and burning in the muscle. This is awesome for muscle growth!!
